Dr Ting Rei Tan wins 1.5 million in funding from Wellcome Leap

Congratulations to Dr Ting Rei Tan, who was awarded 1.5 million in funding from Wellcome Leap as part of it’s Quantum 4 Bio (Q4Bio) challenge. Dr Tan and his team were 1 of only 12 teams worldwide to be selected to participate in phase one of the Q4Bio challenge, which aims to accelerate applications of quantum computing in healthcare and demonstrate quantum-enabled solutions to address pressing human health challenges. Over the course of 12 months, participating teams will develop algorithms for specific project proposals and at the end of the twelve month period, teams will need to demonstrate a significant advance for human health within in order to proceed to Phase 2. Up to $10M in challenge prizes will be available at the end of the program for successful demonstrations on quantum devices with a clear path to scaling to large quantum systems. We’ll post the outcome here and on our socials.
